Lynn Kirwin

Lynn graduated from University of Windsor law school in 1988. Following her call to the Ontario Bar she followed her passion fighting for the rights of the most vulnerable members of our society, children. She immediately began her career as an advocate for children when first employed by the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Metropolitan Toronto. She then entered private practice as a family law sole practitioner in the North York area. She returned to the Society and remained employed there until 2008 advocating in the Ontario Courts at the various locations throughout Metropolitan Toronto as well as at the appeal level.

In 2008, Lynn decided to follow another one of her passions: legal researching and writing. She has authored a number of books dealing with family law including, Child Protection Law in Canada, Vulnerable Persons: Protection and Remedies in Canada, the Annotated Children’s Law Reform Act, 2012. Most recently, Lynn was asked by the Honourable Mr. Justice Marvin Zuker, Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice, to co-author, Children’s Law Handbook, third edition.

Lynn is actively involved as a participant, volunteer, and support person, in the sports of triathlon, road biking, running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and competitive swim events in which her teenage daughter and husband compete. She is also involved in supporting her other teenage daughter’s passion for music and gourmet cooking, making frequent and regular trips to the grocery store for “that can’t do without” ingredient. She likes to take her two beagles for mountain bike rides on the trails of Simcoe Forest – they can be heard from miles away baying when picking up the scent of a white tailed rabbit.

Lynn remains committed to advocating for the rights of children as a panel member of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, accepting both private and court appointed retainers.

Lynn is focused on finding resolutions to all family law disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner. She has many years of experience dealing with all types of disputes from uncontested matters to high conflict cases. Lynn welcomes the opportunity to help you with your family law case.
